Ci fu chi propose che il gran destriero fosse portato dentro le mura della città, su fino alla rocca; chi invece, fra i capi, fu còlto dal sospetto che in quel simulacro si nascondesse un'insidia e che quindi, per quanto sacro, lo si gettasse in mare o gli si desse fuoco o addirittura lo si sventrasse. Laocoonte (in greco antico: Λαοκόων, Laokóōn; in latino: Laocoon), personaggio della mitologia greca, era un abitante di Troia, figlio di Antenore[1][2] (o di Capi, secondo altre versioni[3][4]).
